WEEK 5: GLORIFICATION
"Sanctification at its Highest Level (Perfection)"
"Sanctification at its Highest Level (Perfection)"
This week we will look at the final step in the sanctification process: “glorification.” This is when we will be completely rescued from this life, freed from all sin, and ushered into heaven where we receive a glorified body for all eternity to serve and love God. Jesus will one day transform our earthly body to be like His glorious body. We will be like Him and will see Him as He is.
Dig Deeper: This week we will study passages in Philippians 3, 1 John 3, Romans 8, 2 Corinthians 4, and 1 Corinthians 13. For those chapters which we have already read, re-read those in a different translation.

DAY 1: Read Philippians 3:17-21
Key Verse: He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control. (Philippians 3:21)
Key Thought: Ultimately we are citizens of heaven. Jesus will transform our earthly bodies into eternal bodies so we can be with Him forever.
Reflect: We know we are citizens of heaven. In general, how does this impact my view of the daily things I encounter? More specifically, can I think of a current situation where a “heavenly perspective” will help?

DAY 2: Read 1 John 3:1-3
Key Verse: But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. (1 John 3:2b)
Key Thought: We are children of God, but the best is yet to come! We will be with our Father in heaven one day soon. Jesus is coming back to reveal Himself and He will take us to be with Him. Jesus will purify us because of His sacrifice on the cross so we can enjoy perfection.
Reflect: Do I really have an eager expectation of seeing Jesus and being like Him one day? If not, what distractions in my life should I remove? If so, how does this impact my daily interactions with others?

DAY 3: Read Romans 8:18-25
Key Verse: We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us. (Romans 8:23b)
Key Thought: Our sufferings from this life will be gone and we will enjoy eternal peace and tranquility. We will be given a new body which lasts forever.
Reflect: Is there a physical struggle I have battled in my life? Or is there somebody else in my life who has struggled physically? How does the hope of a ‘new body’ help us through our current struggles?
Dig Deeper: Read Romans 8 (entire chapter in ESV)

Key Thought: We will experience God’s glory and be free from the pains of this life.

Key Thought: We will be known by Jesus, standing face-to-face with Him!
Reflect: If I’m honest, what questions do I hope to ask Jesus when I see Him face-to-face? Will these things matter into eternity? If not, how can I change my focus to things that last forever: faith, hope, and love?
